Hi, I have question I'd like to ask. On my way home today I saw a set of lights turn amber and I knew that I had enough time to break. The speed limit is 70 so I knew that I would have to break a little harder than usual, I knew Ihad time to stop so I braked. As I came close to stopping, the motorcyle behnd me saw me brake, either he saw too late or he though I was going to pass. Anyway, as I came to stop I heard tyres screeching and in my readview mirror I saw the guy on the bike struggling to control his bike and to bring it to a stop but he was going to fast and didnt have enough room or time to stop safely. I knew he was abt to lose control and hit me so instead of letting my car stop at the line I let it roll over the line. I knew he needed more space to stop and I had my kids in the car so I thought that a fine was better than any harm coming to me and my kids and also to the guy on the bike. He hit my read end slightly and fell off. Thankfully he was fine and the damage to my car was so minimal I didnt ask for contact details. I cant remember if I rolled passed the stop line after red or amber. All I know is that my front tyres, maybe even half the car was over the lines. I wasnt obstructing any cars going through the intersection. I dont remember seeng a flash in that panic. Im curious, did the camera go off and if so can I dispute it? I have the bikes plate number just in case. Anyone have an answer for me?

lol the finnish etc get taught how to get sideways etc advanced defensive driving etc and have bugger all fatal crashes.... german autobahns with people doing 200+ without a worry... I think we don't have many roads that can handle really high speed driving but we could certainly follow the Finnish model.
That is, of course, if it is all actually about saving lives- don't forget it's the government who makes a killing off the world's deadliest product even compared to alcohol, car crashes, crime and a couple others put together- Tabbaco.
lol drive safely and don't forget you can always teach your kids full on driving with experts or even a paddock and a cheap car for them to learn to handle bad conditions, slides etc cos they will do that stuff with or without training sometime in thier life! fail to prepare, prepare to fail. :D

Speed doesn't kill, the incompetence of the driver and poor road conditions do..

To those who say don’t speed and it will be okay, it's not hard to glance at your speedo, yeah I hope you get booked by one of these cameras, because in peak hour traffic whith constant movement on every angle of your car, people in your blindspots, the regular people jumping in front of you and stopping suddenly then going again, yeah it is hard to constantly check your speed safely.

To drive and concentrate we shouldn't need to be checking our speed constantly like is required in places such as the M5 tunnel where it's filled with cameras, along with any other tunnel. From the minute you enter you need to constantly check ahead in heavy traffic, then look at your speed, then back up and realise someone has decided to cut you off then you realise oh s**t I'm just on 80, most cars with digital readers would say the exact speed.

If it wasn't revenue, then to cathc speeding drivers why not set the camera to speeds +5, anything below isn't speeding, yet 1km/h over and you received a $220 fine and cop 2 points.. Nice..

I received a speeding fine from a red light camera, which was NOT identified as a dual red light/speed camera by any signage NOR on the RTA camera locations. I also felt the speed shown was more than I was actually doing, which I remember as being 60km per hr. This is nothing more than revenue raising by underhanded means. Why are the general public being deceived and not informed of ALL camera locations if it is not revenue raising?

It is our right to enjoy the NSW roads without these additional taxes. I am amazed why are we all complaining about speed cameras, but do nothing to remove them. In Europe, or in the USA, the government introducing them would strugle to survive one term. Vote the current government out as the Coalition has better program and promisses to review speed limits and the Speed Camera program. In my opinion Labour self destructed by introducing the Mobile Camera program. They certainly lost my vote.

Like most motorists I tend to check my speedometer as a reflex action when going through a speed camera. Not sure this is what want as people approach the entry into in intersection - I would much prefer they were watching traffic and for a potential light change.
It would seem then its just an economy to introduce the speed feature, but one that decreases safety compared to a separate speed camera located near-by.
