I for one am very happy about the terrible policies put in place :P it means P plate drivers such as myself can get stupidly fast cars without a second glance.... power/weight can go F itself.

Rawicz needs to get out the city. People like Rawicz put up totally uneducated comments damning trucks, bullbars and everything else they don't have a clue about.
I feel sorry for these people that are stuck in their concrete jungles stressing out about how the world is coming to an end, when in reality it is a beautiful place.
There is a real need for bullbars, there is a real need for vehicles with bullbars to come into cities (Dubbo is a city), we need trucks on the road and they need to travel at speed.
Enjoy what we have.

Hi Barry and Narelle

Your fuel consumption of 10 litres per kilometre equates to 10 litres/100kms.
The indicated fuel consumption to ADR (Australian Design Rules),as harmonised with the ECE (European Rules), for a MY11 Santa Fe is 7.5 litres/100km.

The ECE tests are for comparative purposes only tested under laboratory conditions, and as such it is likely the actual consumption under practical driving conditions would be higher. Therefore 10 litres/ 100 kilometres is not outside the expected range.

Cheers

Jack

I have seen engines taken apart which have used e10 the cylinders and pistons are BURNT this happens often too.
What do you put in your motorbike ?
What do you put in your lawnmower?
98 octane is too high
E10 burns your engine
This is stupid riding the bike is less fuel consumption yet now we can't do that either!
And to whoever is talking about tuning your car,,, there is no such thing any more that is points and carburetor days which are long gone.....

I have a 1999 V6 Vienta (Camry) - A previous post mentions poor fuel quality from Wollies and I suspect I have the same issue with 7-11 fuel even with the normal ULP (I recall that some of these resellers import from Vietnam) . I have been buying ULP and gave up (due to crap performance) on the E10 ages ago. I'm now seeing erratic engine idleing (when the V6 is not under load...give it some juice and then pulls fine ...or at least masks the idleing issue) on hot'ish days 28 degrees plus. As the engine cools down (stop for an ice cream) or external air temp is low the mix seems to adjust corretly and idles fine. I'm going to try United again ULP (mobil), and note a previous comment about the current affair shows stopped testing for ethanol now that this is legistlated, but, I would like to see some random audits of what is "actually" in fuel so I think we are still be conned. My 5 cents worth that this is not worth the messing around with E10. Was not so long ago we went through the same transition from the old "Super" to ULP and here we ago again.

I would use 95 octain or 98 but don't touch e - 10 but check with your mechanic first but they mite adjust the timing for 95 or higher. I know someone that had volvo 740 converted lp gas and he had to get the timing adjusted for lp gas but it would ping on petrol but it is amazing how many people put regular unleaded into europeien cars and the lowest octain is 95 because they don't have 91 octain in europe and there are japanese cars in europe and you would be better off using 95 octain and even japan as higher octain unleaded then 91 octain and i had a 1997 manual toyota prado and i only used 95 octain unleaded and i did 148,000 km in it and i had it since new and if i used 91 octain it was slugished and i used shell semi synthetic engine oil 15w40 in it and the compression was perficed until i traded it in for another 4wd

Maureen, Natural habitats are destroyed by oil drilling as well so that doesn’t really cover the point now does it. What will be left if we keep drilling?? What will be left then?

Here's something interesting.... Eu crisis, USA Recession, World economy not that strong etc, Australian dollar high, So why is fuel priced at $1.49+. It was cheaper when economy was better in 2005-2007 before the collapse.
The truth people is that OIL has peaked! China, India, Middle East and other developing nations are growing so fast in population that the demand can't cope. And to add icing to the cake, India creates a super cheap car the Nano! which all asian countries are buying. Every Nano adds another straw to oil production.
So what would the prices be now if World Economy was going well? i am guessing $2.20 a litre.

These are my solutions to prevent world collapse (Drastic):
- Lower world population (WW3) sounds harsh i know.
- Remove Free Trade Tariffs
- Remove the so called title of "World Economy" and call it "Local Economy".
- Introduce 100% biofuel vehicles and service stations.
- Go nuclear power (With safe Australian Standards, in safest parts of Australia)
- Stop migration (No need to become bigger)
- Increase Postage costs to reduce Online shopping. (Since Tariffs will be charged, local products will be cheaper or at the same level)

E10 over time will damage all car engines. Even if they tell you your new car can accept E10 don't risk it. The engine performance will be poor too. The government will end up with a huge car yard of unwanted damaged cars if they don't stop this fiasco. I blame the damn Greens mostly! Their stupid ideas. E10 can never get rid of all the water in it, and as we know ... water is not good for an engine.
